Is Asoly available yet?
Yes. Download it here — directly from getasoly.com, not through the Mac App Store. The free tier works right away, without a card and without an account. The Pro subscription cannot be bought yet: the store is still waiting for approval. Everything described on this site is what the current build does. Things that are planned but not built are named as such.
Does Asoly show search volume?
Not yet — it shows an estimate derived from Apple's autocomplete and labels it as such. Apple publishes no search volume for the App Store. Apple's autocomplete only suggests terms people actually search, and it orders them, so the order is a usable proxy. Asoly turns that into a 0 to 100 popularity estimate and writes "estimate" next to it every time it shows one. Exact figures need the Apple Search Ads connection, which is on the roadmap.
What if my Mac is off?
Asoly catches up when it wakes. Nothing is measured while the Mac is off or asleep, because there is no server doing it for you — that is the same reason there is no account. Days that could not be checked stay visible as gaps in the chart instead of being filled in. Tracking that continues without your Mac is on the roadmap.
Where do the rankings come from?
From the App Store's own search, queried from your Mac, without personalisation — the list the store itself returns for that term in that country. Asoly reads the top 250 per keyword and storefront. It needs no App Store Connect API key, no certificate and no Apple ID.
How accurate is it beyond the first hundred?
Less accurate, and Asoly says so. The front of the list is stable across repeated queries. Past about rank 100 the store's own answer moves on its own: in our tests the same app appeared at 124 and then not at all within an hour. Asoly still shows those positions, but treats them as uncertain and never sends a notification based on them.
Which countries and devices?
All 115 App Store storefronts, and several of them per app. iPhone rankings only for now. iPad and Mac search results differ, so they are not offered rather than guessed.
When do I get a notification?
When a keyword crosses into or out of the top 10 or the top 50 (with hysteresis, so a value sitting on the line does not notify twice), moves five places or more inside the top 50, drops out of the top 100, or ranks for the first time. Everything else is recorded quietly.
Can Asoly track competitors or edit my metadata?
Not today. You can see which apps rank above you for a keyword, but their positions are not tracked over time, and Asoly does not detect their metadata changes. Editing your own title, subtitle and keyword field across localisations through App Store Connect is the main item on the roadmap, and is not in the current build.
Where is my data?
In a local database on your Mac. There is no Asoly account and no Asoly server, so there is nothing to sync and nothing to breach. You can export the full keyword history to CSV at any time.
What does it cost?
Free covers 1 app, 5 keywords, manual refresh and 7 days of history, without notifications. It stays free, and it is the only way to use Asoly without entering payment details. Pro is 9,99 € per month or 89 € per year, about 7,42 € a month. Both plans start with 14 days free in the checkout, which does ask for a payment method — if you do not cancel before they are over, the plan starts. Pro is not on sale yet; the store is still waiting for approval.
Who sells it, and how do I cancel?
Lemon Squeezy is the seller of record. It takes the payment, charges the VAT of your country, issues the invoice and handles refunds — not Apple, and not through your Apple ID settings. You manage or cancel the subscription in the Lemon Squeezy customer portal, which you reach through getasoly.com/account. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for; afterwards Asoly keeps working under the free tier, and your local history stays where it is.
How many Macs does a licence cover, and how do updates arrive?
One Mac at a time. Moving to another one is a move, not a second seat: “Deactivate this Mac” in Asoly's settings releases the key, and the new Mac then activates the same key. Start that on the Mac you are leaving, while you still have it. Updates come straight from getasoly.com through Sparkle, checked from inside the app — there is no App Store update to wait for.
What does it need to run?
macOS 15 or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel. Asoly lives in the menu bar and can start at login so the daily check happens without you.
